Has your 10 x 10 Gazebo top started to fade from the sun, or has it started sagging a bit? It may have rips and tears from the wind and weather. Maybe there is a special event in your future and you want it to look its best. Don't worry, because it is easy to find replacement canopies made exactly for your gazebo.

Shopping online can be confusing. Every company says that their material is the best and it is sure to fit your frame. If the company you are considering has a replacement for your exact brand and model, then you should stick with them. There are a lot of “universal” varieties out there, but unless your frame is just like theirs, it is not going to fit well. A bad fit can lead to bagging and sagging and water standing on your 10 x 10 Gazebo roof. So if you have to get a universal model, double check your measurements. You don’t want find out too late that it doesn't fit well.

Most inexpensive canopies are made of polyester. A higher denier number means a thicker fabric. Plain, untreated 150 to 200 denier polyester will last from 6 months up to a year when left outside. UV treatments can add 2-3 years. Polyester tops are cheaper initially, but they are more prone to fading, rips and tears.

Premium polyester fabrics are available up to 350 denier. They cost more, but they usually have better construction. The stitching will be done with a higher quality of thread and double or triple stitching is the norm. The better grades of canopies have a higher grade of craftsmanship and it shows in their life expectancy.

Canvas is also a popular fabric for outdoor use, with good reason. It is thicker and more durable than polyester. It is available in a huge variety of colors, even patterns. It has been around for a long time and is widely available. It is also a cotton based fabric, if that is important to you.

Sunbrella® is the brand name of a high quality canvas material that has become very popular in the last few years because of its fade resistance and durability. It resists hardening and cracking and also in many colors. Sunbrella® has been a staple in the marine industry for many years because it holds up well when exposed to the elements.

In addition to the fabric itself, you’ll also want to know if a treatments has been applied to the fabric. Sometimes waterproofing products are applied. UV inhibitors are available to help keep the fabric from fading. An SPF treatment is sometimes applied, especially to thinner fabrics. Anti-fungal treatments are available that will help keep mold from forming on your canopy.

Be sure the grommets aren't going to rust on you. Look for reinforced stitching and corners. Know how the canopy will bed attached to the frame. These things will help you determine the quality of a replacement canopy for your 10 x 10 Gazebo.

That's some really good information about the denier. Don't see technical information like that on very many of these pages. So thanks, I've read hundreds of these articles it seems and no one else ever mentioned anything about that!

Thanks gazebo343! I spent a lot of time doing research before I bought my gazebo. And you are so right - the technical info is buried sometimes.
